Succumbing to depression, anxiety or panic attacks has nothing to do with fame or social class. Let some celebrities say so, without (apparent) difficulties in life, but who have already decided to stop everything they were doing, some at the height of their careers, to be able to focus on what matters most: recovering their mental health.
More recently, Wesley Safadão, 35, could no longer do a three-hour show, something natural in his life for the last 20 years. The reason: anxiety. “I’m mentally exhausted”, he told Fantástico (Globo). The return to the stage is scheduled to take place on the 29th.
Another example was the singer Luísa Sonza, 25, who is currently going through a very delicate moment after exposing a betrayal by her then boyfriend Chico Moedas. The reason the artist took a break from her career in 2021 was also related to a love issue.
It was after breaking up with Whindersson Nunes, 28, in 2020, that the artist began to receive a barrage of criticism and negative comments. Even when the comedian’s premature son died, the target was Sonza. Result: career break to deal with the consequences of internet hate.
In sport there are also examples of people who choose to slow down a strong rhythm. Among them Gabriel Medina, 29, who preferred to stay away from a championship that could give him another trophy so he could take care of his mind. Days later, he announced that his marriage with Yasmin Brunet, 35, was coming to an end.
“Added to the body comes the mind, which is also not in the best phase. I’m coming from exhausting months. And I need to look at myself right now and take care of myself,” he said in a statement at the time.
