Universal Pictures is preparing a biopic based on his life Martin Luther King Jr. and Chris Rock may be the director with Steven Spielberg executive producing.

According to Deadline, Universal has acquired the rights to adapt the biopic “King: A Life” about the advocate of nonviolent social change and civil rights written by Jonathan Ige.

Comedian, actor, director and producer Chris Rock is “in final discussions to direct and produce” and Spielberg will executive produce. Amblin Partners and Christy Makosko Krieger will also executive produce.
