She is the protagonist of the SKAI series, “The Pantheons”
Just like in the SKAI series, “The Pantheons”the Melia Kreiling she exudes, when you meet her, an air of sophistication. Contrary to the series, here it “opens up” and gives us a taste of her life, her return to Greece, but also the “secrets” of the Pantheons.
As an actress with an international career, Melia also tells us about the great strike that is taking place all this time in America.
“It’s a complex topic that I can hardly answer so quickly. The main requests are to modernize the basic contract used to reflect the age of digital entertainment and define the use of Artificial Intelligence in creation. Americans do not strike often, nor easily. However, when they do, they are organized, thought out, with a passed decision and absolutely united. For them to be on strike for so many months, to have cost over $5 billion in California, you understand how tight the rope was already.

There are a lot of rules that the union has put on us to put pressure on. One of them is not to talk or promote old and new work from American studios and contracts, which do not fulfill our requests. That’s why I can’t discuss in any interview about my work before Pantheos. Specifically for Pantheos we got approval from the union due to the fact that it is not related to a platform and is included in a list of exceptions and I have to say that the producer, Yiannis Karagiannis, showed great understanding».
-What is a typical day like for you?
Since we started in July, we have been in a race against time. We are trying to shoot a good series, under difficult conditions, but the most difficult condition is the lack of time due to the fact that the series is shown 4 times a week, and to come out with this, very good result, so quickly, is unreal for my data. In America it would take 8 days for each episode to come out. Here, we do it in 1.5 days. So, you understand that the pressure is great. So, usually, I wake up very early, drink tea, take a shower to wake up, yoga to wake up the body, study the day’s scenes, be on set by 7:30, run it until 6:00, I get home, walk the dog, I want to cook, but I usually order out, study the next day’s scenes, and by 11 I’m asleep.
-You lived for many years in the intense rhythm of Los Angeles, how did you make the decision to leave this “world” and return to Greece?
Los Angeles, surprisingly, doesn’t have a fast pace at all. Just enough that I felt like I was living in a suburb and I sometimes missed the vibrancy of a big city. I came back because I had a hard time in the last three years and I needed my family, Greece, food, familiarity. But I never make big plans, that is, I don’t put a “stamp” on such decisions. I take “walks”, testing myself and my luck. I collect experiences – as much as I can – and as much as I am given the opportunity.
-After you finish your professional obligations, what really relaxes you?
A walk in the mountains or at the sea. In nature, I remember that nothing from the stressful everyday life is so serious after all, and my worries are put in order. I remember we don’t save lives, a job like any other…

-To the Greek public, you are introduced as Marmo, to the Pantheos of SKAI. How is Marmo through your eyes?
Marmo is desperately searching for her place in a hostile environment and thus, at first, she chooses an attitude of dignity, respect and detachment. Qualities that she believes will “protect” her from overexposure to the Pantheon family and of course to withstand all that is said about her. But she’s also a girl who needs to unfold, to stretch as a being, to blossom as a woman, but she doesn’t know how to do it. He loves deeply, but has never felt the fireworks of love. And someone comes into her life, who overturns everything she’s learned and used to. Thus, we watch Marmos’ long-distance journey into the deep, where she herself learns how to deal with the triumph and darkness of passionate love, the rebellion of truth, the inevitable chaos between the “wants” and the “musts”. ‘ and whether or not he will manage to be reborn through it all.
-You embody a role, which the old-timers remember from Katia Dandoulakis, who is also now in the series. How do you feel performing in front of her?
I feel immense joy that we are together on this journey. Katia is a tremendously supportive woman, inspiring and reassuring at the same time. I would very much like to have seen the Pantheos they did back in the day, but unfortunately they don’t exist, only some scant records. We’ve talked a lot together, I know they have a completely different approach to today’s version, both in terms of telling the story, and the choices of the actors, the characters they play. It couldn’t be otherwise, after all, since it’s everyday. Our perception has changed since then, as has the way we watch television. However, what moves me is that Katia gives me strength when I need it in a subtle and subtle way, so that I never feel “pressured”. I’m a big fan of hers. I am a big fan of all the actors in our team. I enjoy every moment of playing with them, because they are all generous.

– Have you managed to get into the mindset of the Greek series, I mean, do you look at the viewership numbers? Will they affect you either positively or negatively?
This is something new for me, honestly! Viewership numbers are not something that usually reaches the ears of the actor abroad, at least not on a daily basis. Neither the actor nor the viewer deals with such specific information. For the first two weeks the show was on, it was all I heard! It made me sick and I had to cut it off with a knife. It’s a terribly toxic thing to try every day to give your all, to trust your team and at the same time look at data, which really doesn’t concern you. I consider this to be a toy – a weapon for something that should not concern me. There are professionals in production and communications positions who know this part of the job. I certainly don’t. How and why a streak “catch” has to do with many things and it doesn’t always happen instantly. So, instead of looking at the viewing figures, I prefer to judge for myself whether I am proud to be involved in a job and not let such factors make me question what I know and have learned.
-After your participation in the series “Zoi”, but also after “Pantheos”, would you like to continue your career here?
I want to do things that tickle my fancy. I want when I read a script or when I talk to a creator, I want it to make me curious and wonder if I can bring something to it. Whether the job is in Greece or America does not concern me, except for bureaucratic issues. It’s about working with people who inspire you so you can try new things. People with whom you have a similar work ethic and with whom you feel very safe, so that you can let go, be ridiculed, take risks, without fear. I am strict at work and have high expectations for the creative process. The result is another matter, which I cannot control myself as an actor.
-Really, where would you like to go professionally? Have you set any goals?
My goal is to be creative and not be bored. To try, to fail, to try again, to succeed, to fail again, heck.. As long as this need is reborn in me, the more I will want to continue. I also want someone, even a viewer, to feel that someone has “seen” them, just as I feel less alone watching other people’s performances.
