Madonna addressed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas during the tour “Celebration Tour”in London, asking the audience: “What the hell is going on in the world?».

According to the Guardian, the “Queen of Pop” took a minute during the concert to make a lengthy statement about the war, calling it “heartbreaking”.

Nobody wants to see what happens. I go on social media and I want to puke,” Madonna said. “I see kids being kidnapped, being pulled off motorbikes, babies being beheaded, kids at peace raves getting shot and dying. What the hell is going on in the world? How can human beings be so cruel to each other? Things are getting worse. It scares me».

Paraphrasing James Baldwin (American novelist, playwright and activist), Madonna said that “the children of the world belong to all of us, each and every one of them. I don’t care where they are from, their hairstyle, what their skin color is, what their religion is. The children belong to us. And we are responsible for them».

He also referred to the killing of a 6-year-old boy in Illinois, whose owner is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing the child and injuring his mother, according to the Associated Press. The Will County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to the AP that the victims “were targeted by the suspect because they are Muslim and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East with Hamas and the Israelis.”

As the “Guardian” reports, Madonna stated that the murder was “a hate crime because he was a Muslim,” adding: “We have to remember that we are human beings here, we cannot lose our humanity. Our hearts can be broken, but our spirits cannot. And you might look at what’s going on in the world and say, what the hell? What can I do, I am only one person, I am helpless. No you are not. Each of you has the power and ability to shine a light on the world».

Madonna had previously made a briefer statement about the Israel-Hamas war during the premiere of her Celebration Tour, as well as an Instagram post on October 7, the day of the Hamas attack on Israel, writing: “My heart is in Israel. To the families and homes that have been destroyed. To the lost children. To the innocent victims who have been killed. To all who suffer or will suffer from this conflict. I am praying for you. I know that this is the work of Hamas and that there are many innocent people in Palestine who do not support this terrorist organization. This tragic attack will only cause more suffering for everyone».
