Singer Ariana Grande, 28, wore a dress inspired by the classic movie “Suddenly 30” (2004), starring actress Jennifer Garner, 49. Grande recreated Jenna Rink’s iconic dress, and appeared wearing the piece in her Stories.
The outfit was used in yet another night of The Voice USA, in which Grande appeared as a judge to replace Nick Jornas, 29. In addition to the dress, made by the brand Versace, she was also inspired by the teenage character to do her hairstyle.
Jenna, Garner’s character, uses the outfit in the scene of a landmark party in the plot, in which she makes the other guests dance the choreography of the song “Thriller” (1982), hit by Michael Jackson (1958–2009).
The two artists celebrated their role with posts on social media. “Dear Cynthia, honorable doesn’t even begin to describe. Can’t wait to hug you. See you in Oz,” wrote Ariana Grande in a card to Erivo, along with pink and green flowers (the colors of Glinda and Elphaba).
Grande has already won a Grammy and has Broadway experience in the musical show “13”, and has starred in series such as “Victorious” and the movie “Don’t Look Up”. Erivo also holds big awards like Tony, Grammy and Emmy, all for her role as Celie in “The Color Purple”.
On Twitter, Universal, responsible for producing the film for the musical, retweeted a 2011 post in which Ariana Grande told her that she had a dream to play Glinda someday in her career. “And 10 years later…”, he wrote the profile.
Prologue to the classic “The Wizard of Oz”, “Wicked” tells the story of everything that happened before Dorothy’s arrival in the city of Oz. In their original exhibition, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth played the main characters Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch.
Menzel, 50, congratulated the artists for being cast in the role. “Congratulations to two amazing women. What a [Wicked] change their lives for the better forevermore, just as it changed for us. Lots of love,” he wrote.
The film will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who has worked on projects like “In A Neighborhood in New York,” and will have a screenplay by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. The official release date for the feature film is still unknown.
