The announcement of his death was accompanied by a GoFundMe page aimed at covering his “final expenses”. Goa Gil (October 11, 1951 – October 26, 2023) was an American musician, DJ, producer, and festival and outdoor concert promoter. He was one of the founders of the artistic currents Goa trance and Psytrance of electronic dance music. He played music at electronic dance music parties and festivals.

He was born and raised in San Francisco and in 1969 he started traveling the world until he arrived in Goa, India. His partner is Ariane MacAvoy, also a Psytrance producer and DJ, with whom they formed a musical duo called the Nommos. From the 1980s he organized some of the first Goa Full Moon parties. He has released albums since the 1990s which include both his own DJ sets and remixes of other artists.
