Megan Fox shares her personal struggles with love, lust and heartbreak like never before. In her first poetry collection, “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous”the actress gives her fans a glimpse into her most personal, dark thoughts, calling herself a “hopelessly romantic open wound of a human being” and a “soul grabber for whatever beautiful, broken, self-absorbed idiot” is “chasing” her and “takes away” her life force.

“These poems were written in an attempt to eradicate the disease that had taken root in me because of my silence. “I’ve spent my whole life keeping men’s secrets, and my body aches from the weight of their sins,” the “Jennifer’s Body” star explained in a statement.

“My freedom lives on in these pages and I hope my words can inspire others to reclaim their happiness and identity by using their voice to shine a light on what has been buried, but not forgotten, in the dark.”

While Fox doesn’t mention any of her past or current lovers by name, many of the poems appear to be written about her fiance Machine Gun Kelly and inspired by the “ups and downs” they’ve faced since May 2020.

Various passages in the book refer to a 32-year-old narcissist, the author’s true love, and a smug rock star who pretends to have… “good” intentions.

“You’re an addiction, that no prayer will ever cure,” she writes in a poem titled “A Pretty Boy is a Deadly Drug,” referencing an earlier post she used to profess her love for MGK via Instagram , in August 2020. “You’re killing me, but my heart won’t leave you.”

MGK, 33, proposed to Fox, 37, in January 2022, with the two flaunting their love. The couple sparked breakup rumors in February 2023 when the actress deleted all of MGK’s photos from her Instagram and temporarily deactivated the account. Just a few days later, however, the pair seem to have gotten back together and have been together ever since.

“But then one day it happened. One of said idiots finally broke me up,” Fox writes in the foreword to her book, apparently alluding to the recent breakup rumors.

“And from me came these poems, which characterize the previously unspeakable feelings of isolation, torture, self-harm, despair, longing, worry, restlessness, rage and general anguish.”

Meanwhile, the last two poems, “I” and “II”, refer to the feeling of grief over a heartbreaking miscarriage. “There’s an ultrasound by your bed, 10 weeks and 1 day … do you think if she could, she would have left a suicide note?” she writes.

“But now I have to say goodbye. I close my eyes and imagine holding you tightly to my chest as you are ripped from my clothes,” she continues, while on the last page of the book appears an image of a woman holding a baby. “I will pay any price, tell me please, what is the ransom for her soul?”

“Relationships are not pretty. They are ugly. Sometimes it’s a war,” Fox told People in an interview promoting her book. “But through a wound you are given the opportunity to grow and become a stronger, more complete version of yourself.”
