Jered Leto climbed New York’s famous building, the Empire State Building, wearing a red jumpsuit, this Thursday (9). On Instagram, the actor said that he had been fascinated by the skyscraper since he was a child. The adventure, however, had a reason: the promotion of his band’s new tour.

“I’m not sure if it was the Guinness World Records King Kong, but something about this iconic structure has always captured my imagination,” Leto wrote, sharing video of the adventure. “I love climbing. It’s one of the few things I’ve found that takes me away from the pressures of life and helps me find a little freedom.”

According to the website Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner did not climb the 102 floors. He started from floor 86 (where the observatory is located) until he reached the top, at the base of the illuminated antenna. The journey, approximately 400 meters, was completed in 20 minutes. “I have to be honest. It was very, very difficult. It was much harder than I thought it would be,” he said in an interview with The Sun.

The adventure celebrated the launch of the new tour by 30 Second to Mars, an alternative rock band of which Leto is a member, as well as his brother, Shannon. “We are so excited to be back on the road and to see you in so many incredible places around the world. It’s been a long time. We miss you. We love you. See you very soon,” he wrote. See video.
