Eminem, Judas Priest and Dolly Parton nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The American alternative metal band, Rage Against the Machine, the British heavy metal band, Judas Priest the rapper Eminem, the legendary country singer Dolly Parton, the soul and R&B singer Lionel Ritchie are this year’s candidates to join Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Rock singers Pat Benatar and Kate Bush, singer Beck, bands DEVO, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, MC5, New York Dolls, A Tribe Called Quest, Dion Warwick, Carly Simon and Fela Couti are also on the list. Nominees for a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“This year ‘s list of nominees recognizes a group of different incredible artists who have had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” said John Sykes, president of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

“Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists who followed,” he said.

Artists and bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nomination year.

Five of the nominees will be selected for admission later this year, based on votes from a body of more than 1,000 artists, industry members and historians, as well as the votes of fans who may vote in the near future.
