Nick Jonas has spoken out about his diagnosis with type 1 diabetes. The singer of the Jonas Brothers “uploaded” on Instagram the four different signs that can lead to a diagnosis of the disease. He also added that it was thanks to his family noticing these signs that he started the medication.

The Instagram message began with Nick’s mother, Denise, who says her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 18 years ago. With Nick then adding that he had “all the symptoms” including frequent urination, excessive thirst, exhaustion and unexplained weight loss.

Nick was very enthusiastic as a childsays Denise. “He was very active so when he started showing these signs I was scared but I think I was just refusing to accept it».

In his caption, Nick noted that his family and “especially” his mom “noticed a change,” which ultimately led to his diagnosis, despite the fact that “the conversation around diabetes” wasn’t as “widespread as it is now.”
