The Movie “Barbie” It contributed more than £80m to the UK economy and created almost 700 jobs, according to the studio behind the blockbuster.

Greta Gerwig’s moviestarring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, was largely filmed at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire.

Warner Bros said the film made more than £95m, as it gave figures to MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee as part of its inquiry into high-end British film and television.

Describing the film’s benefits to the UK economy, Warner Bros said: “During its production in the UK, it contributed over £80m in direct spending to the local economy, created 685 jobs, involved over 6,000 collaborators, supported 754 local businesses, paid over £40m in wages».

Other films filmed at Leavesden include the franchise of ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Batman’ and ‘Aquaman’.

“Barbie” is considered the best movie of 2023 so far – at the box office for sure – and has surpassed 2022’s biggest hit, “Top Gun: Maverick.” It has surpassed the last film ‘Harry Potter’ to become the highest grossing Warner Bros film of all time at the worldwide box office!
