Since receiving a paint-by-numbers kit during the pandemic, Sharon Stone converses with colors. This is how the iconic Hollywood figure of the 1990s describes her relationship with painting, which completely absorbed her and led her to spend up to 17 hours a day in a studio she created especially for it in her Beverly home Hills.

Not that it’s anything new for Stone to hold a debt. She grew up painting, under the guidance of her aunt; aunt Vonne had a Masters in painting and created murals on the walls of the house where Sharon spent her childhood. In addition, Sharon briefly studied art at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania State before dropping out to pursue a modeling and acting career. Now she is apparently devoted entirely to painting.

Her exhibition at Los Angeles’ Allouche Gallery last spring now makes its US East Coast debut, hosted at C. Parker Gallery through January 15, 2024, curated by gallery owner Tiffany Benincasa.

The exhibition’s title – ‘Welcome to My Garden’ – is borrowed from one of the 19 paintings on display at the gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut, and speaks to a collection of artworks teeming with trees, flowers and leaves. Visually, Stone’s relationship with nature is ever-present. “Color becomes a wavelength for me. Being a colorist gives direction to my paintings. The color speaks to me,” she emphasizes.

In an interview she gave, she cited Kandinsky, Miró and Claude Monet as her influences.
