The photographic project entitled “Images from Silk” was realized by the Center for Creative Photography of Thrace, continuing its creative course and following the philosophy of continuous renewal and development.

“The Center’s photographers, using photography as a means of creative expression, photographed the silk. The journey from the mulberry tree to the silk fabric hides stories and moments that were uniquely captured through the photographic lens. Works of art, from another world – parallel to the one we experience” state the creators.

The photographic artwork was printed on silk fabric. The photographs will be exhibited in Soufli, the capital of silk, but also in Alexandroupoli, bringing the public into contact with a “double” work of art. The silk fabric, a 100% organically grown product, and the images from the entire production process.

The creators – photographers participating in the photographic project “Images from Silk” are: Nikos Andreadakis, Yiannis Gogos, Christina Gousiou, Ilias Grigoriadis, Georgia Dimitriou, Nikos Zoakis, Dimosthenis Karageorgiou, Michalis Boliakis, Yiannis Boultadakis, Ilias Papadakis, Katerina Papapanagiotou, Gioula Patsi, Aneza Spanopoulou, Julia Tsiridou.

The aim of the project is, through photographic art, the general public to discover and learn about the art of silk through images, creations of the photographers, but also to achieve the highlighting and promotion of the art of silk as well as contemporary expression through photographic art.

The result of the project will be presented to the general public, with the two photo exhibitions in Soufli and Alexandroupolis, which are implemented with the financial support and patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the patronage of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Regional Unit of Evros and the Municipality of Soufli as well as the support of the Silk Art Museum.
