Gal Gadot denounced the “media silence” on the sexual abuse of female Hamas hostages and the continued danger they face as their captivity nears its three-month mark.

The world has failed the women of October 7,” wrote the Israeli actress in her post on Instagram. “We claim to stand against rape, violence against women. We will not allow women to be victimized and then silenced. We say we believe in women, we stand with women, we speak for women».

Gadot appears to be referring to the recent questioning of the validity of Israeli media reports of sexual violence used by Hamas on October 7 in some Western countries, including the US and the UK.

Several prominent Hollywood figures, including Julianna Margulies, have also questioned the silence of women’s advocacy groups on reports of horrific rape, sexual torture and mutilation of women by Hamas.

The United Nations, in particular, has come under heavy criticism within Israel for its failure to speak out about acts of sexual violence against women during the attack and the continued safety of female hostages held by Hamas.

The actress called on “women and women’s allies to act”, pleading with various groups, including the UN, to do everything possible to secure the release of the female hostages so that they do not have to suffer continued acts of sexual violence.
