He honors it with an exhibition and a dedication Athens Concert Hall Maria Kallas (1923-1977), from whose birth this year marks 100 years, offering its visitors the opportunity to experience, within its premises, a complete experience of touring the world of the absolute diva. The exhibition “Goodnight, I love you” and the tribute “The magic of Calla” will last until January 30, 2024 and are hosted respectively in the Ground Floor Foyer of the Christos Lambrakis Hall and in the Great Music Library of Greece “Lilian Voudouri”. Entry to the exhibition and tribute is free.
“Goodnight, I love you!”
The exhibition, edited by Lilis Pezanou, aims to highlight the personality of the great diva on and off stage. Its title is inspired by a phrase remembered by members of Maria Callas’ household staff, Bruna Lupoli, Ferruccio Mezzadri and Elena Potsan: “Every night, along with her good night, she said to us: I love you!”
The exhibition is based on personal items – memorabilia and dresses of Maria Callas from the collection of Nikos Charalambopoulos. Completed by a sample costume made by Giannis Tsarouchis for the performance of the opera “Medea” in Epidaurus, models of Lila de Nobili’s costumes from the performance of “La Traviata” at La Scala in Milan, a model of Piero Tozzi for the film “Medea » by Pier-Paolo Pasolini and models of costumes by Giannis Tsarouhis, loans from institutions and individuals.

“The magic of Calla”
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, the Great Music Library of Greece “Lilian Voudouri” presents until January 30, 2024 a tribute that gives the public the opportunity to get to know the leading soprano through books, sheet music, programs concerts, magazines, audio-visual material (LP, cd, dvd) and databases belonging to the Library’s collection. Visitors will have the opportunity to use the material within the Library space. The tribute is framed by archival documents about Maria Kallas from the donation of Konstantinos and Viktorias Pylarinos and from the archive of bathyphonist Nikos Zacharios. Musicologist Gabriela Spano has undertaken the planning and scientific editing.
