The initiative of the Hellenic Film Academy “Chora, I See You”, will bring to life pieces of history of Greek cinema in February in Paris -in collaboration with the Center Culturel Hellenique- and in Sydney, as part of the 40th Greek Festival of Sydney. The 19th San Francisco Greek Film Festival kicks off in March.
The screenings in Paris will take place in the context of the monthly appointment with the Greek cinema, “Les Rendez-vous du cinéma grec”, organized one Friday every month by the Greek Cultural Center at the cinema Le Grand Action in the center of Paris. The series of “Dating – Country, I See You” will begin with the screening of “Evdokia”, on February 11, and will continue with screenings of films such as “Morning Patrol”, “The Lazy of the Fertile Valley” and “Athens” , until June.
“Chora, I See You” also premieres in Sydney on February 24 with “Z”. The Festival, which will last until 02/27, will screen six more films, including “John the Violent”, “The Troupe” and “Mandalena”, with the support of Finos Film. The latter will even be screened in San Francisco, in mid-March, along with titles such as “Anna the Consul” and “From the Edge of the City”.
The promotion of Greek cinema abroad, with the cooperation of local agencies, has been a key goal of the program from the beginning. As always, the screenings take place under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” committee. The main sponsor of the action is the National Center for Audiovisual Media and Communication – EKOME, while the sponsors of the action are the Hellenic Film Center, the Athens Epidaurus Film Festival and the Thessaloniki Film Festival, with the support of the Greek Film Archive and Finos Film.
In parallel with its action abroad, “Chora, I See You”, will continue its successful screenings in Greece, on dates and cities that will be announced soon.
