Nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards have been officially announced, from the major categories (see Role Play, Direction, Best Picture) to the smaller categories of effects, makeup, art direction and soundtrack. The announcements were presented by Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross livestream through the social media of the Academy.
The 94th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
Among the movies considered favorites is The Power of the Dog by Jane Campion and produced by Netflix, which tops the list with 12 Nominations in all major categories.
Following is Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi film DUNE with 10 nominations including Best Picture, although it dominates the most technical categories.
Next are “Belfast” and “West Side Story”, while Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car, which is also considered to have a place in the favorites, is also a surprise.
The big absences:
David Lowery’s The Green Knight, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, Jeymes Samuel’s The Harder They Fall (Netflix), and Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel are some of the strongest films of the year. honored this year and will definitely be discussed.
