A commentator for Jovem Pan, Adrilles Jorge was fired from the station after he made a gesture associated with Nazism when he addressed the Monark case on a live broadcast (see the moment below). Monark defended the existence of a Nazi party and was also disconnected from the Flow Podcast.
On the occasion, he extended his palm upwards in a movement similar to the “Sieg Heil”, a Nazi salute used by Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) which in German means “long live victory”.
Sought, Jovem Pan confirmed that he was fired. In a note, the station reinforced that it repudiates any demonstration in defense of Nazism and its ideas. “We are vehemently opposed to the persecution of any group on ethnic, religious, racial or sexual grounds.”
In another passage, he mentions that commentators have independence to express opinions, respecting the limits of the law, “opinions that do not reflect the positions of the Jovem Pan Group.”
In a video published on the morning of this Wednesday (9), the commentator and ex-BBB Adrilles denied that he had this attitude and highlighted that he just wanted to say goodbye in a more stripped way.
“I didn’t do anything, I’m an anti-Nazi. On the other hand, I can apologize for anyone who made a mistake with that gesture, I would never make a gesture as a joke,” he said.
During the program, the commentator stated that he does not believe that Monark is a Nazi sympathizer. “He comes from a series of posts and statements in which he fundamentally defends freedom,” he explained. “I think he expressed himself badly.”
“When he talks about a Nazi party, he talks about how it exists in the United States,” he continued. “I think that Nazi movements can even be declared, they cannot exercise Nazism in some American states. But a party that preaches openly, with free expression, that a Jewish people should be exterminated is an extremely unfortunate statement. And I I think he based his opinion, unfortunately, on something called ignorance.”
Asked how anyone could be unaware of the matter, Adrilles insisted that Monark expressed himself poorly. “Nazism is widely publicized, it really was a disgusting, abject movement of extermination of peoples, but the principle of what the Monark wanted to say and expressed itself so badly when talking about the evaluation of a party, you organize a party, organize a systematic movement to eliminate Jews — because Nazism is essentially that — what he was trying to say, and failed to say, is that freedom of expression may be left over.”
“Defending the unacceptable is not exactly torturing, persecuting or massacring someone,” he compared.
“His opinion is being punished precisely by the lack of sponsorship and the dismissal. And it doesn’t exactly fit a chain.”
The former BBB also compared Nazism with Communism. “I am radically against any kind of movement that preaches the extermination of a people,” he said. “Now, if Nazism is to be banned – and I think it should be banned as a diffusion of ideas, although books like ‘Mein Kampf’, Adolf Hitler’s ‘My Struggle’, have to be exposed exactly to know the degree of dangerousness of this kind of ideology—then communism should also be banned.”
After the act on the show, the show’s host, William Travassos, just said: “Surreal, Adrilles.” On Twitter, where Adrilles’ name was among the most talked about topics, the commentator also explained himself.
“The insanity of the cancellers has exceeded the limit of madness. After a vehement speech of mine against any defense of Nazism, a goodbye is interpreted as a Nazi salute. Nazi is the canceller rage that doesn’t see its own criminal sense”, posted Adrilles.
Journalist Leandro Narloch defended the commentator and highlighted Adrilles’ speeches on the program, which he classified as contrary to Nazism. “[Ele] spent half an hour speaking out against the legalization of Nazi parties. In the end, he gave a salute that was interpreted as a Nazi, and for that he was fired,” said the journalist, highlighting a video in which Adrilles repeats his goodbye movement at the end of other editions of the program.
