They used to be full of life. Today, however, they are completely abandoned.

These are villages and cities of Europe, which have been completely surrendered to nature, in the absence of man.

Each one of course, for a different reason, although the result is no different. It is almost identical.

Oradour-Sur-Glane, France

The ruins of this small village in France stand upright to commemorate the horrors of World War II. The village has remained almost intact since June 10, 1944, when the Nazi SS exterminated the entire local population.

The medieval settlement is located in Yorkshire. Today, there stands only one building, which was built by the Percy family. All the rest have been torn down or collapsed, surrendering to the wear and tear of time. The local population, after all, left the area around 1,500 AD, seeking their fortune in the developing cities of England.

The village was for weeks the scene of fierce clashes between Democrats and Franco Fascists during the Spanish Civil War. Eventually, Franco’s troops came to dominate in 1939. Since then, no one has chosen to live in this village, which is located south of Zaragoza, in northeastern Spain.
