The former player and now senator for Rio de Janeiro Romário has been criticized by his ex-wife, pharmacist Isabella Bittencourt, who claims that he was negligent with the health of one of the daughters he has with him, Ivy, 18.
Ivy is disabled and has Down syndrome. According to Isabella’s outburst on social media, when traveling with her father to the Northeast, she reportedly fell ill with a fever. When asking the senator to take her to the emergency room, he reportedly said he wouldn’t do that. “I was mocked,” she says.
According to her report, the young woman returned and now has the onset of pneumonia. In an outburst, Isabella says that Romário was negligent. When contacted, Romário had not yet responded.
“It’s not an isolated fact, but something that we’ve experienced, my daughters and I, for over ten years. I’ve never exposed anything because I don’t like to be seen, I’ve always been discreet in my private life,” he began.
“There were countless psychological abuses, neglect and restrictions that we went through on a daily basis. I always tried to resolve things peacefully, accepting everything that was proposed to us without complaining to avoid generating conflicts”, he amended.
“I don’t have a support network or family around to help me. I have to go to work and deal with all of this. Today I got tired and woke up. There are still many more things”, he added.
On his Instagram profile, Romário published photos alongside Ivy and other family members in Maceió (AL), where they were during the Christmas period.
