The four members of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK have decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment while remaining with the company as a group.

“We have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for the individual activities of the members,” YG Entertainment said in a statement to South Korean outlet Xsportsnews, according to Soompi. “We will do our best to support BLACKPINK’s activities and encourage the members’ individual activities with a warm heart”.

The news comes just days after Jennie announced that she is starting her own record label called Odd Atelier (OA). He described it as “a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way than is usual or expected”.

In early December, all four members—Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa—signed the group’s “exclusive activity contract” with YG Entertainment following negotiations that began in July 2023.

It is worth noting that the top group debuted in 2016 with the song ‘Whistle’ and YG Entertainment by their side achieving huge, global success with major collaborations. Despite not releasing any new music in 2023, they still hold the number two spot on Spotify’s list of K-pop artists for the year, NME reports.
