Theatrical writer, short story writer and translator Natassa Sideris won the first prize in the international competition of contemporary Greek theatrical writing of the Regensburg theater “MYTIOS ?!” in collaboration with the State Theater of Northern Greece.
The work of “Desmotis”, which “talks” with topics such as the economic difference between the countries of Europe, the economic crisis, connected with the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus, will be presented at a world premiere in June 2022, at Regensburg Theater and will be accompanied by an international festival.
Through the international theatrical writing competition MYTHOS?!, The Regensburg theater sought new narratives, new perspectives and dramaturgies of the contemporary Greek theatrical landscape.
Given that ancient tragedies continue to be proposals for performances on the international stage, he noted that the new voices of contemporary Greek playwrights are not sufficiently represented in Germany. With the works that emerged from the competition, the committee chose to honor three strong voices of contemporary Greek drama.
Natassa Sideri with the first prize receives the amount of 3,500 euros, while the second prize and the amount of 2,500 euros was won by Danae Epithymiadis, with “Blom”, her first work as a writer. The first authorial creation is the work “The False Horns” by Stellina Vogiatzis, which won the third prize and the amount of 1,500 euros.
126 works were submitted
A total of 126 plays were submitted to the competition, which were submitted anonymously to the committee for evaluation.

MYTHOS Festival ?!
On June 24 and 25, 2022 the Regensburg Theater is going to organize the MYTHOS Festival?!, A two-day summer program, in collaboration with the State Theater of Northern Greece, and with the support of ARTBOX.GR, which will take place in Regensburg, in Thessaloniki and online and will include theater, music and speech, along with the awards ceremony by the committee.
