Who will give a concert in Cincinnati, 42 years after the tragedy in their appearance in the area

by

The British rock band “The Who” will give their first concert in the Cincinnati area, four decades after the deadly tragedy during their appearance, at the Riverfront Coliseum, in 1979.

Eleven young people were killed and 23 injured that night trying to get as close to the stage as possible.

Tragedy has haunted the band all these decades, which supports Cincinnati suburban scholarships in memory of the victims.

Who will take to the stage at the TQL Stadium on May 15, according to WCPO-TV. The band’s return was originally scheduled for April 2020 at the BB&T Arena in Kentucky, but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are now appearing in an even bigger space, which will obviously increase scholarship revenue,” singer Roger Daltrey told the station. “I’m very excited that we are leaving behind a legacy for Cincinnati.”

In the 2019 WCPO-TV documentary “The Who: The Night that Changed Rock”, the band said that the decision to give a concert in Cincinnati “will be a very happy event and something so healing”.
