“Your bad weather” is what our people say – and it is usually accompanied by the expression “and your black flare” or “and your upside down”.

Ekrasis means intense protest and indignation for wrong conclusions and actions and Finos Film recalls moments from its unforgettable films, where its protagonists – Kostas Voutsas, Lambros Konstandaras, Rena Vlachopoulou – say the phrase.

who was the “flare”

As Mr. Babiniotis says, the torch was the monk of the Roman Catholic Church. It originally meant “brother” and comes from the Latin word frater.

At Sifnoswhere there was a very strong Catholic element, they call ceramics a flare chimney with three vents for the smoke to come out. Over time the flare blackened with smoke and resembled monks in robes, so the Sifnian humorists called the chimneys flares, to mock the missionaries who were trying to convert them to the Papacy.

The “bad” flare, therefore, protected from the rainwater but would drown the house in smoke, when the fire inside was lit at the same time for daily cooking.
