Premiere on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 9:00 p.m.
Marina Satti’s explosive concert that took place in July 2023 at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens comes exclusively to the Onassis Channel on YouTube, specially filmed by Christos Sarris. Get ready for the hottest and Dionysian digital live of the new year.
The STAGES A/LIVE returns for a third season. This time, live and digital, the initiative of the Onassis Foundation that started in January 2021, is evolving into a new way to experience each concert. For the 2023-24 season, STAGES A/LIVE has an audience and is an all-female affair, centered around four unique femininities. On Monday 22 January at 21:00, Marina Satti premieres a Dionysian live on the Onassis Channel on YouTube.
It is not easy to marry traditional music with pop, bagpipes with beats, drums with Roland 808s, the primordial sounds of the Greek and by extension the Balkan countryside with the stimuli that are now born in the digitally interconnected metropolises of the world. Marina Satti has not only managed to create a musical genre of her own, but is in a category of her own in the modern music scene of Greece. “For me, tradition is people – who come and go -, the way they are with each other, who communicate and what they leave behind” she says today. But she already has her creative tomorrow in mind… With her eyes fixed on a horizon line that transcends geographical and aesthetic borders, shortly before representing the country on the stage of Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, she is inaugurating for 2024 her digital stage Onassis Channel on YouTube from the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens, the rare industrial monument in the center of Athens in an old gas factory, with more than 1,000,000 visitors a year.
Born in Athens and raised in Heraklion, Crete, from a Sudanese father and a Greek mother, a scholar at Berklee College of Music – graduated in 2011 having studied orchestration and production, she is a brilliant case study of how an extraordinary and open-minded musical talent can be assimilated a set of seemingly incompatible influences. After all, the freedom of expression was and remains the goal for her and her career proves it abundantly, both before and after the deafening success she experienced in 2017 with “Mantissa”, a single inspired by the streets of Epirus and an unprecedented Greek cut that it went viral and now has 55 million views on YouTube.
The singer, composer, music producer, actress, founder and artistic director of the polyphonic group fones and the women’s choir CHÓRES, then performed live in more than 20 countries – the live performances at the Champions of the Earth Awards of the United Nations Organization in New York stand out. her participation with the fones in major international festivals such as Womad but also their passage from KEXP, in February 2020, being the first Greek group in the legendary show. Afterwards, Marina Satti collaborated with Greek and foreign artists, such as Phoivos Delivorias, Nikos Kypourgos, George Dalaras, Pavlos Pavlidis, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Paco de Lucia, Patrice Rushen, Simon Shaheen, Maria Mulata and Mavis Staples and would leave five years to pass until her first full-length personal album entitled YENNA is released in May 2022.
The Live YouTube premieres of STAGES A/LIVE will continue with three more dynamic lives in the season. Pongo, the new diva of Kuduro, as she is called, born in Angola, will captivate us with Afrobeats, accompanied by a group of dancers on Monday, January 29. Next up is the New York punk quartet of cumgirl8, a band as well as an eccentric fashion brand on Monday, February 12. Finally, on Monday April 15, the Onassis Channel on YouTube will host the last concert of the season for STAGES A/LIVE with Stella, the only Greek musician who belongs to the iconic list of artists of the historic Sub Pop label.

STAGES A/LIVE on the Onassis Channel on YouTube
STAGES A/LIVE is an initiative of the Onassis Foundation, which reacted directly to the closed stages during the first lockdown to practically support the music stages, the musicians and those behind the stage, in a difficult moment of inaction. For the stages that had been emptied of artists, technicians and spectators, of life, the Onassis Foundation inaugurated a digital music stage, as culture continues to be an integral part of our existence and music (shapes) us. The independent music scene of Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities came back to life with unique concerts. STAGES A/LIVE premiered on Onassis Foundation’s YouTube in January 2021. Thousands of music fans experienced online the explosive live performances of Nightstalker and Ath Kids from Gagarin 205, Puta Volcano from AN Club, Thrax Punkc and Mikros Kleftis from We Club, Pavlos Pavlidis Trio from Principal Club Theater, 63 High from Eightball Club, Bazooka from Lab Art.
From 2022, STAGES A/LIVE celebrates music and musicians with unexpected live shows from unexpected places on the YouTube of the Onassis Foundation. The concerts of Naxatras in Akondisma, Planet Of Zeus at Parnassos Philological Association, Saske from the Booking Store in Nigrita Serres, Psarantonis at Neratze Mosque, Larry Gus and Michalis Siganidis at Antart Studio are available.
