Hugh Hefner: His latest wife reveals unknown sides of him

“To me he was just this kind of sad boy who had a hard time and was trying to make up for it in a grand way, but still never got around to filling that void in his soul.”

With these words he describes the great entrepreneur and publisher of magazines for adults Hugh Hefner his last wife Crystal, who stayed with him for 10 whole years in the popular mansion. Inside: dozens of women in sexy pink pajamas, plastic surgery and implants, sex, luxury and a life of millions.

However, all this was not enough to satisfy his soul Hugh Hefneraccording to the now 37-year-old Crystal.

Crystal met Hugh Hefner on Halloween 2008when she was 21 and he was 82. The young woman at the time simply sent her picture to the mansion managers, and soon after she was invited to a party.

As was customary in the mansion the ‘playboy bunnies they slept together, a few weeks later the 21-year-old moved into the most luxurious house with Hugh and the other girls.

Her stay lasted ten whole years, she married him in 2012 but he himself breathed his last 5 years later, in 2017, a few weeks before the global phenomenon #metoo.

The now 37-year-old Crystal has published her book entitled “Only Say Good Things”, a phrase that Hugh Hefner wanted to hear all the time.

At the age of 12, her father dies, the only people left are her two sisters and her mother, who, however, will marry another man who treats her “like Cinderella” and will have a stepsister.

In her adolescence she meets him Greg, a soldier fighting in Iraq, the two become a couple. Then-teenager Crystal becomes pregnant, has an abortion, and Greg is killed in the war.

She herself in her book refers to many non-consensual sexual experiences. I was emotionally prepared to enter Hefner’s mansion. “I wanted a man who would make me seem important to others, but who himself would use me.”

Life in the mansion

“At first I was enchanted by the mansion, it was the best I’ve ever seen in my life, because I’ve mostly stayed in apartments and houses. Hugh had inside the mansion a solarium, a gym, games, it was like I was in a movie with him Willy Wonka“, she says in an interview with the Daily Mail.

“What I should have done was thank him Hefner. I was paid ten million dollars a year, to participate in parties, movie nights, reality TV. I had plastic surgery on my nose and my chest, it was something that took me away from myself,” he says and adds “I look at old photos with blondes hair and huge implants, I look ridiculous, like a sex doll.”

THE Crystal he climbed the hierarchy little by little. At first she was a friend, then a fiancee, then a wife. Really why did he choose her?

“I think he chose me because I was fun, he was like a kid at heart, I never really thought about marriage. I remember him telling me ‘but you’re not asking me for anything’. Maybe I was the calming presence he was looking for in his life, but I’m not sure. People think the mansion is such an incredible place. At first it is, yes, but when you realize it’s all fake, that part gets tough…I felt like I had to be ‘on’ all the time, for ten whole years, 24/7, that’s crazy,” she reveals.

Who was Hugh Hefner?

She presents the entrepreneur and publisher herself as agoraphobic and drug addict. “He ate at home, he never wanted to go to a restaurant, he realized he was agoraphobic, if he went out he was very nervous, he was constantly taking Viagra. It was narcissistic, angry and had many needshe blamed all of this on his parents, saying that they were not loving when he was a child, he had no love growing up, and I think he tried to make up for all of that.”

“The truth is that I felt sorry for him, I don’t know if he ever knew how to love, I think he did the best he knew. To me he was just this kind of sad boy who fell on hard times and tried to make up for it in a grand way but still never managed to fill that void in his soul. Many friends told him ‘You are a man’ but that was not the truth, he was deeply sad and attached.”

In 2011 Crystal decides to leave him. She knows him Jordan McGraw, however when Hefner calls her back, she returns to him. Why;

“I think to some extent I was manipulated, brainwashed or had Stockholm syndrome. As he got older I felt even more sorry for him, I felt trapped but at the same time I couldn’t let him go, he needed me. I think he used sex to try to fill some gaps in his life, but it never worked.”

Married life in the mansion

“Since we got married I started to have more of a role everywhere, he introduced me as his wife. There were women all around him but he didn’t pay attention to them, he had become dependent on me, he even bought me an apartment.”

Did he ever fall in love with her? She had stopped dying her hair and had all her implants removed, she was a normal woman, “sex stopped completely in 2014 and I finally got relief”she says in an interview.

The businessman, sold it Playboy Mansion for $100 million in 2016 – to the owner of a bakery company – while stipulating that he should live there for the rest of his life. It is now used for corporate events. In 2017 he fell ill and died within two weeks, of sepsis, in bed.

“I knew how much he hated the hospital,” Crystal says. “He was saying, ‘don’t ever take me to the hospital, that’s where people go to die.’ Of course, Hefner feared death more than most.

“I know Hef was older, but somehow he felt eternal because he was the playboy for so long. I haven’t been to his grave – next to Marilyn Monroe’s resting place in Westwood Village Memorial Park – since the funeral. She says she feels guilty: “I tried 100% to be the person she was always looking for.”

What is her life like after his death

Hugh Hefner tried to make her a sex doll, yet she made him a dependent husband, yet she is still deeply traumatized by it all. Now he lives in Hollywood, deals in real estate sales, plays music as a DJ and grows lychees in Hawaii. He has traveled to 40 countries since his death and is chairman of the board of the Hugh M Hefner Foundation.

She is dating and trying to meet someone who wants a family. “I’m still trying not to sabotage a good relationship, I’m still struggling with that,” she admits.

As for whether she misses Hugh Hefner: “Sometimes it feels like a dream. Did this really happen? In a strange way, yes, I think if people really knew who he was they could say the same thing. Crystal even now, years later can’t completely shake off Hugh Hefner.
