Coleman Domingo reacted to his first Oscar nomination with an emotional post on social media.

The nominees for the 96th Academy Awards were announced on January 23rd with several exclusions and surprises from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences dominating the headlines.

American actor, writer and director Coleman Domingo earned a Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the Netflix drama ‘Rustin’.

Domingo thanked him for his nomination in a post on Instagram, hours after the Oscar contenders were announced in Los Angeles. Along with photos from the set of the George K. Wolfe-directed film, the actor wrote: Complete. Thank you dear Bayard. Thanks to @theacademy for this nomination. I’m trying to find the words.”

“Today is pure gratitude. For everything. The trip. The high ones. The very low ones. Faith. Love. Light. Joy. I’m happy,” he said.

Several of Domingo’s Hollywood colleagues responded with messages of support praising his performance in the film.
