Sophie Charlotte wins APCA award for best actress; ‘Vai na Fé’ is named best soap opera

The São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) chose Sophie Charlotte as best actress of 2023 for “Todas as Flores” (Globo). The actress played the visually impaired Maíra, protagonist of the plot. Sophie will also be in the second phase of “Renascer”, playing the role of Eliana.

The award for best soap opera of the year went to “Vai na Fé” (Globo), by Rosane Svartman. The plot aired at seven o’clock and starred Sheron Menezzes in the main role.

The award for best series went to the drama “Os Others” (Globoplay), by Lucas Paraízo. The production also won a best actor award for Milhem Cortaz, who plays one of the protagonists, Wando, husband of Mila (Maeve Jinkings). In the series, two neighboring couples come into conflict due to a fight between their children.

“Vale o Escrito: A Guerra do Jogo do Bicho”, another Globoplay production, won the award for best documentary series. The production divided into seven episodes portrays the behind-the-scenes of the Jogo do Bicho in Rio de Janeiro and the rise of the main gangsters of the scheme that dominated the samba schools.

Alice Carvalho, who will be in the second phase of “Renascer”, was chosen revelation of the year by “Cangaço Novo”. The actress plays the violent Dinorá, protagonist of the original Amazon Prime Video series.

The award for best variety program went to “Avisa Lá que Eu Vou”, starring Paulo Vieira and available on Globoplay.
