Metallica won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance at this year’s Music Awards for their song ’72 Seasons’ off their 2023 self-titled album.

The trophy was awarded during the streaming “Premiere Ceremony” with bassist Robert Trujillo accepting it on behalf of the band.

With boyngeius and Paramore dominating the rest of the rock categories, Metallica was the only heavy metal band to win a Grammy this year.

The legendary band beat fellow nominees Disturbed, Ghost, Slipknot and Spiritbox.

In total, Metallica has now won nine Grammy Awards, the most of any metal band.

I just want to say that Lars, James and Kirk couldn’t be here because they are with their families and families are everything to all of usTrujillo said in his acceptance speech.

“I live in Southern California, so it’s a little easier,” he added.

We want to thank Greg Fidelman, our incredible producer and recording crew. They are like family. When you make an album like this, you jam, you collaborate. …. Keep these instruments in your hands. Let’s keep the young people making music and keep the dream alive” he emphasized.

Metallica also claimed Grammys for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Performance, but lost to Paramore and boygenius in those categories.
