Former players give their opinion on the Daniel Alves case: ‘The strong word nowadays is respect’

On the eve of a court verdict regarding the acquittal or conviction in the case of the alleged rape in a nightclub in Spain, the Daniel Alves case became a topic among former players who circulated in Anhembi in the early hours of this Sunday (11) to follow the second day of São Paulo Carnival parades.

Among those who decided to give their opinions on the case was former Corinthians goalkeeper Ronaldo Giovanelli, who was present in box 011. “I was raised in a different way. In my time, harming a woman was cowardice, even today that stays in my head,” he said when asked what he thought about the case.

“If he [Daniel] If he is guilty, he must be severely punished. The strong word nowadays is respect”, added the former athlete in a chat with the F5.

Fernando Prass, former Palmeiras goalkeeper, states that the right thing to do is to wait for the courts to do their job, but he gives his opinion on what he thinks about this topic. “Obviously, these situations serve as a warning,” he said. “The world is not boring, it has just changed and there are behaviors that are no longer tolerable today. We have to adapt to that.”

Former Corinthians and São Paulo striker Luizão preferred to leave the interview when asked about his position in relation to the Daniel Alves case. “We’re here to talk about Carnival”, replied Luizão, before patting the reporter on the back and leaving.
