1. Mykonian Pastoral: Screening of Eliana Abravanel’s documentary by PIOP
The Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) continues the screenings of the monthly cycle, entitled “Afternoons with Greek documentaries”, at the Foundation’s building, in Tavros, with selected documentaries of domestic film production. In this context, on Monday, February 12, 2024, the award-winning documentary “Mykonian Pastoral”, written and directed by Eliana Abravanel, will be screened. After the screening, there will be a discussion with the director. The documentary highlights an unknown side of Mykonos, showing the continuation of the traditions of another era, who survive in Mau, the only rural area on the island of the Winds. There, we will meet some authentic Mykonians, who, as the last natives of one of the most cosmopolitan islands in the world, seek refuge from the tourist deluge that threatens to wipe them out. The film received the 2nd Prize for Best Documentary Feature Film as well as the Photography Prize (Zoi Manda) at the 17th Greek Documentary Festival-docfest (2023).
