Tony Goes: Friends and celebrities pay tribute to the Folha columnist

by

Journalists, friends and celebrities used social media to pay tribute to the columnist for Sheet and screenwriter Tony Goes. The journalist published texts three times a week on F5, in which he commented on the world of entertainment and analyzed and criticized TV. He died in the early hours of Thursday (15) after liver failure due to complications from bowel cancer, discovered in 2021.

Tony’s great friend and “almost brother”, presenter Zeca Camargo published a loving message on his Instagram. “My travel partner, my beloved comedian, my cultural thermometer, my life partner has now embarked on a greater portal of light”, he posted.

Soap opera author Rosane Svartman remembered the columnist’s good heart. “I met Tony talking about soap operas, television and cinema. His generosity, love of stories and knowledge have always impressed me,” she wrote.

Actress Lilia Cabral states that it was always a pleasure to be interviewed by him. “I was very sad. He was such a well-informed journalist about everything. He will be greatly missed”, he says

Erick Brêtas, a journalist who recently left TV Globo after 26 years with the company, was another friend to regret the news. “How sad. Tony was a cultured guy, owner of elegant texts and a lover of the arts. He will be missed,” he published.

Astrid Fontenelle posted a photo of Tony in her stories and said that “today the sky will be more starry”, and that her personal friend, “a good critic”, will be greatly missed.

Barbara Gancia, former Folha columnist, also gave her testimony about how Goes “was beautiful, charming and a true gentleman”. “I was sure you would go over that damn thing [câncer], would kill him with laughter. But tumor has no sense of humor, it is greedy, it only knows how to choose the most enlightened and beloved ones. I’m going to miss you.”

Partner of F5, columnist Rosana Hermann dedicated a post on her Instagram to remember the moments when both were able to share the same film booths and premieres. She reveals that the two planned to create a podcast together.

“We wrote it, we named it, we watched the name get stolen, we laughed, we kept pitching it to potential partners. This year the podcast was going to come out. But my pain is nothing compared to what we’re all feeling collectively, the loss of this amazing, fun guy, beautiful in every way, courageous, cultured, talented, loving,” he wrote.

Screenwriter for Globo and national films such as “Linha de Passe”, by Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas and “O Grande Circo Místico”, by Cacá Diegues, George Moura praised Tony’s passion for TV and his talent for writing about the subject that he dominated like few others and interested him so much.

“He was a great connoisseur and passionate about television. When someone in love dies, the object of their passion always loses and we all lose. Without Tony, TV reviews become less intelligent, less critical and less informed. May he rest in peace. Thank you for taking the time and looking to talk about the most popular narrative in the country: TV,” Moura told F5.

Actress Marina Provenzzano defined it as a privilege to have been interviewed by Tony. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to have such a good conversation with him. One day they will find a cure for cancer and that day will be wonderful.”

Other friends and professional colleagues lamented the loss, such as columnists Mauricio Stycer, Xico Sá, Fefito and Nilson Xavier, who remembered the partnership between them. “Always very friendly and sweet when we met at theaters or TV shows. The news made me sad”, said Xavier.
