About a month after leaving BBB 24, Vanessa Lopes gave her first interview to Globo, on Fantástico this Sunday (18). Diagnosed with an acute psychotic condition by doctor Antônio Geraldo da Silva, president of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association, Vanessa is undergoing treatment at home, with the support of her family and away from social media.
“It’s as if my mind broke with reality. It’s as if I no longer understand what is imagination in my head and what is real”, explained Vanessa. “This happened due to stress, lack of sleep, anxiety, fear of what was happening inside and outside the program,” she explains. “At all times I said: ‘what I created in my head could be real or not'”, reported Tiktoker.
Vanessa’s parents, Alisson Ramalho and Liziane Lopes, cried during the interview as they remembered their first reunion with their daughter after she left the reality show. “She said ‘dad, I love you, I love my grandfather’, but the words were disjointed, she didn’t know what she was saying”, Alisson recalls, shaken. “I felt like she didn’t even know if we were real,” says her mother.
A month later, Vanessa recognizes that pressing the BBB cancel button was a cry for help. “I still think it was a relief. It’s a unique opportunity that everyone wants to experience, but I wasn’t doing well,” she says. “I’d rather be at home taking my medication and with my family and friends supporting me than being the way I was there”, concludes Vanessa.
Still in the interview, psychiatrist Antonio Geraldo da Silva stated that anyone can develop a condition like Vanessa’s, even without a history of mental illness. “The person comes within a normal functioning characteristic and suddenly breaks with reality and starts living a parallel reality. There is no need to have a previous history,” he said.
Vanessa believes that the fear of other people’s judgment was her main trigger for developing the psychotic condition. “The fear of judgement, of what people will think, was what caught me the most at that moment. Of everything I’ve experienced with the internet, of opinions that people give about me, it was my pain that came to the surface inside “, he stated.
