New accolade for Taylor Swift: the American singer has topped the world’s sales charts in 2023, for the 4th time since the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), an international body of the music industry, has awarded this title.

It is the 11th time that this ranking has been determined “based on the worldwide sales of an artist or band over the past year, across all versions: streaming, downloads and physical media and across their entire repertoireIFPI, which represents the recorded music industry worldwide, explained today.

The 2023 award follows those of 2014, 2019 and 2022. The IFPI Federation hails “an outstanding year during which the artist counted three albums (…) at the top of the charts”, namely “Midnights” and the reissues of the records of “Speak Now” and “1989”.

With the record-breaking Eras tour, she brought her entire repertoire back to light on streaming platforms around the globe“, continues the organization.

This phenomenon was reflected in the success of the song +Cruel summer+, which was originally released in 2019 and returned to the top of the charts four years later”, according to the IFPI.

K-Pop stars SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids placed second and third “in a record year for Korean artists.”

Four K-Pop groups are in the top 10 with TOMORROW X TOGETHER in 7th place and NewJeans in 8th.
