The 1950s Christian Dior dress worn by Madonna in the film ‘Evita’, Heath Ledger’s masquerade costume in the film ‘Casanova’ and other iconic costumes from films and TV series will be sold at an auction held to support an organization that promotes cultural education.

The auction is selling 69 items, clothing and memorabilia from the archives of the costume house Cosprop, which were originally donated to support the non-profit organization The Bright Foundation.

The organization was created by Cosprop founder John Bright and its mission is to promote art and culture with activities that connect different communities through the common language of art.

“I have dedicated myself to designing costumes for film, television and theater and I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to follow this path. I strongly believe that the arts and creativity can shape happier and healthier children and help young people reach their full potential,” said John Bright.

Period dresses from the series ‘Downtown Abbey’, costumes worn by Tom Hardy and Paul Anderson in ‘Peaky Blinders’ and a gown designed by Tom Rudd for Elizabeth Taylor in the 1988 film ‘The Young Toscanini’ and made for the role of Julie Andrews as Victoria Grant in the 1982 film ‘Victor Victoria’ are being sold online from today until March 10 by Kerry Taylor Auctions and in person on March 4 in London.
