The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, said: “The mansion of Georgios Swartz belongs to the Ministry of Culture and is a monument to be visited. The mansion began to be built in 1787 and was completed in 1798. It was a residence, but also the seat of the Joint Partnership of Ampelakia, the Cooperative for the production and distribution in Europe of the famous yarns produced in Ampelakia. It’s about excellent example of traditional 18th century architecture.

The lighting study of the Georgios Swartz Mansion complements the museological and electromechanical study, with the aim of creating a single visual identity and the appropriate environment– for each room separately – according to the conceptual and spatial subsets of the monument. With the completion of the maintenance work on the murals, the painted surfaces and the wooden elements of the Mansion, as well as with the lighting of the building externally and internally, this very interesting historical landmark for Ampelakia is highlighted as a whole and at the same time a strong pole is created to increase the number of visitors of the area”.

The lighting study was prepared based on European lighting standards for all the interior spaces of the Mansion -basement cellar, ground floor and two floors-, as well as the external aspects of the building, taking into account the character of the monument. The criteria of the highlight lighting concern the safety and visual comfort of the visitors during the exhibition, the visual adaptation to the transition from the outside to the inside and between the halls, as well as the protection of the listed building and the light-sensitive elements and exhibits, he adds, among other things the same announcement.
