Puerto Rican model Sofía Jirau, 24, has become the first person with Down syndrome to walk the runway for Victoria’s Secret. She is featured in a lingerie campaign from the Love Cloud collection.

“I once dreamed, worked on it and today it’s a dream come true. Finally I can tell my big secret. I’m the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down syndrome!”, she wrote in some posts on social networks.

In the campaign, Sofía shares the space with 17 other women. However, Jirau’s debut as a model had already taken place two years ago, at Fashion Week in New York.

According to the Huff Post portal, there were old demands for Victoria’s Secret to change the way it manages its casting choices. Critics urged to increase size offerings and show more diverse bodies. The brand was known for modeling their slim, tall pieces and bodies.

“Love Cloud Collection is an important moment in the brand’s evolution,” said Raúl Martinez, the brand’s new creative director, in a press release. “From the cast of incredible women who bring the collection to life, to the incredible inclusive spirit on set, this campaign is an important part of the new Victoria’s Secret standard we are creating.”
