Impressive hotels, creations of bold vision and incredible effort. They are the Amazing Hotels which the journalist visits Giles Coren and the chef Monica Galett as part of the fascinating BBC documentary series. After the sensational Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, it is the turn of the Masphi Lodge in the Ecuador.
Built at an altitude of 900 meters in the Maspi Forest, at the foot of the Andes, the hotel is literally one with nature. A glass and 100% ecological construction, it does not affect the environment and is surrounded by dense vegetation and a rich ecosystem of wild flora and fauna.
The owner’s idea for the construction of the hotel in this area was aimed, not at profit, but at saving the forest from deforestation and offering guests, in addition to luxurious accommodation and highly original activities, such as hikes with specialized guides, observing the flora and fauna with the guidance of an expert biologist, even a cable car ride above the jungle.
A special experience in an inhospitable environment, but after a while you feel at home.
