Actor Diego Martins, who is working on Lollapalooza, took a break to see MC Livinho’s show and plans to see SZA’s this Sunday (24). In June, Diego debuts in the musical “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”, playing the role of Felicia. “Felicia is a new, bold, courageous drag queen who sings a lot,” he told F5.

“It’s an iconic piece, I’m very excited. Being able to live a drag that isn’t my drag is really cool. Being able to create another persona that isn’t Diego”, he says.

Regarding the controversies involving Reynaldo Gianecchini, who will star in the play despite having little familiarity with the drag universe, Diego says he doesn’t doubt his colleague’s potential.

“He is a wonderful artist, who we have all followed for so many years and who has never left anything to be desired. I think he will do beautifully what he set out to do”, says his co-star.

“I don’t know if I agree with this talk that ‘ah, you need to be drag to do it’, I don’t know. I think there’s a lot of work for everyone. I think it’s courageous and really cool of him to throw himself into a world that’s so new to him”, it says.

On the issue of LGBTQIAPN+ representation, Diego believes in work as an opportunity for personal transformation for the actor.

“I’ve seen some interviews where he talks little about his sexuality. I still know little about him, but he speaks from a place of fluid sexuality. I think this work can open horizons for him in a personal place”, he says.
