The Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan (Christopher Nolan) and his wife and film producer Emma Thomas (Emma Thomas) will receive from the British government his titles knight and her duchess respectively for their services and contribution to the cinema, AP reports.

Earlier this month Nolan was the big winner at this year’s Oscars, picking up seven awards from 13 nominations for the biopic Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy as the “father of the atomic bomb” Julius Robert Oppenheimer.

Born in London to a British father and an American mother, the renowned director met his wife on their first day as students at University College London in 1989. They married in 1997 and have four children. Together they founded the production company Syncopy, which is behind many of Nolan’s film successes.

He has previously stated that he never felt alone making films because his wife “always saw things the same way I did in terms of the importance of the medium”.
