If even today, artists like Anitta and Rihanna shock the world by wearing “naked dresses”, transparent dresses that leave the body exposed, Kate Moss was a pioneer in causing this uproar.
The first naked dress, worn by the model on a red carpet in 1993, was announced by the North American auction house Kerry Taylor with an estimated bid of between 200 and 300 pounds (around R$2,000).
Kate wore the iconic piece, created by stylist Liza Bruce, at Elite Model’s Look of The Year award. The dress being auctioned is identical to the one worn by the model, belonging to the brand’s spring-summer 1994 collection. The original is on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The top model, who recently turned 50, revealed in interviews that she didn’t know that the lamé dress would be completely transparent in the photos.
“I didn’t know you could see everything until the photos appeared in the newspapers the next day,” Kate recalled to American Elle magazine. “It was the camera flash that made me look naked, but the fabric, while I was wearing it, wasn’t transparent like this. I didn’t even imagine that 30 years later we would be talking about this,” she said with fun.
