BBB 22: Douglas almost didn’t enter reality for fear of being forgotten by his daughter

by

“Exactly like in Big Brother Brasil 22”. This is how psychologist Carolina Brito Samarão Silva, 33, describes actor Douglas Silva, 33, currently confined to Globo’s reality show. “The only thing that changes is that he loves to watch television,” she continues, who has been married to the artist for 13 years and is the mother of his two daughters.

A good guy, playful, who likes to dance and is responsible for preparing all the family’s meals, she says, highlighting yet another characteristic of her husband: sincerity. “I didn’t even need to show so much. He talks on the program the things he would say to us and to his friends. He’s already given me a lot of things that I shouldn’t have said”, says the psychologist in a certain tone of annoyance.

“Do you know a person who doesn’t have a filter?”, he continues. Such sincerity was what worried her the most when the couple decided together that Douglas should accept the invitation to participate in BBB 22.

Although he was famous from a young age for having played Dadinho in the hit “City of God” (2002) and later he stood out as Acerola in the series “City of Men” (2002-2005), being nominated for the best actor award at the International Emmy for the work, Carolina says that the family’s financial life “is not the way they would like”.

“Douglas is on the BBB for two reasons: the R$ 1.5 million prize and the visibility that reality provides”, he says. Staying away from the family was the only thing that shook DG (as it’s called on the show) from accepting the invitation. According to Carol, he was afraid that his youngest daughter, Morena, 1, wouldn’t remember him anymore because of the time away.

Maria Flor, 10, the oldest, is a hit on social media. With her dancing and cheering videos for her dad, she already has over 260k followers on Instagram. “She is identical to her father. Not to say that she is not identical, she has some annoyances that are mine, because Douglas is not boring at all. For him, anything is good, I complain”, says Carolina, laughing.

Despite Maria Flor’s resourcefulness, the couple did not want to encourage her to enter an artistic career at a very young age. “Douglas didn’t feel like it, he thought she was still too young to decide. And she has no obligation or need to work”, she says.

Raised in the Kelson’s favela, in Penha, north of Rio, Douglas, even before he was famous, was already helping his family. “Since he was very small, he worked even without his mother letting him. People told her that he asked to help the guy who passed by selling dairy products in the community because any money he earned was something”, he says.

According to Carolina, her husband is very aware of the pros and cons of his artistic career. On the one hand, he is grateful for the opportunity to have been discovered so young, but on the other hand, he recognizes the weight of the profession’s responsibility. At the end of last year, Maria Flor recorded, alongside her father, the series “How to Be a Carioca”, which Star+ should launch this year, and will mark her debut as an actress.

She also participated in two other tests, which are still awaiting the results. “We always talk to her a lot. It’s all very measured and done in a gentle way so as not to weigh too much on her”, says the psychologist.

Carolina states that DG, in fact, shares with her the care of the daughters and the house. “I’m missing him a lot for that too.” In addition to preparing the family’s meals —’I hate cooking’, says the psychologist — he goes to the market, gives food to the youngest daughter and takes the oldest daughter to school.

“How can the guy be sexist if he’s the one who cooks, who takes care of the daughters? How can they call him precisely the thing he’s not? It’s just watching his behavior within the program”, rebuts Carol about the public’s complaint after he took all men to the VIP when he became leader in the first week.

The psychologist says that her husband does not usually accompany the BBB and, therefore, was surprised by the need, as a leader, to have to choose other brothers to stay in the VIP with him. “He had to decide everything on the spot, choose very quickly”, she justifies.

According to her, DG said jokingly that he would not take a wife because the eldest daughter asked. “He would never stop doing something because his 9, 10-year-old daughter asked him to. It wasn’t that,” she says.

“Whoever watches the program all the time can already see that he is playful, he approached Naiara Azevedo, who gave him a massage, Laís has also had a massage. Douglas is very good with everything, and so am I”, she adds. . Jealousy? “Zero. It’s been so many years together. The way he always says: ‘Carolina, I miss you.’

HATERS AND SOCIAL NETWORKS

For DG’s family, the most difficult situation so far was when the actor was nominated for Paredão, in the third week of the reality show. Although she already knew that people could be cruel on social media, Carolina says that experiencing the situation is completely different – she denounced racist attacks to the Justice of Rio.

Worried about her eldest daughter, who was shaken by the haters, the psychologist took her away from the networks for a period. “But even I was crying every day because there are some very cruel messages,” says Carol. Over time, though, she came to realize that he wasn’t the only one being targeted on the web. “People talk from all over the world. And I thought, I’m not going to focus on this because if I don’t, it’s going to affect my health,” she says. She also points out that the family received many messages of support — several artists campaigned for Douglas to stay on the reality show.

To handle her husband’s social media outside the BBB and not exhaust herself, she says she had to hire a team to help her at work, but she insists on keeping the final word. “I know Douglas, I know how he would like to position himself, I don’t let things pass me by”, she says.

What will you do if you win the $1.5 million prize? “He has many plans: to improve our lives, help his mother and sisters, he also wants to set up a social project within the community where he grew up”, he says.

Although she considers herself a down-to-earth person, Carolina says she bets her husband will make it to the BBB final. “If people don’t take a guy like that who gets along with everyone, values good coexistence, is welcoming, is fun, I don’t know anything anymore”, she concludes.
