The actor, comedian, screenwriter and director Mel Brooks will be honored with this year’s Peabody Career Achievement Award Peabody Awards.

Abbott Elementary writer, producer, actress and comedian Kinda Branson will receive the National Association of Broadcasters (NBA) Pioneer Award.

Both Brooks and Branson were selected by the Peabody Awards committee in a unanimous vote and will be honored at the 84th Annual Awards ceremony on June 9 at Los Angelesaccording to Variety.

“Mel Brooks is not only one of the most beloved comedians of all time, but he literally set the standard for television comedy from its earliest days. In television, film, theater and recording, Mr. Brooks is a champion. And Kyda Branson has emerged as a refreshingly creative force in television comedy,” said Geoffrey Jones executive director of the awarding organization. “We are proud to honor Mel and Kinda not only for their outstanding contributions as storytellers, but especially for using comedy to tell stories that matter, enriching the lives of so many people,” he said.
