Not only Brazilian artists and influencers are in the campaign to donate to Rio Grande do Sul. International stars have joined the wave of solidarity and made appeals on their social networks because of the floods that are damaging the region.
Among them is actress Viola Davis, who on her social media said she was “praying for Rio Grande do Sul”. She published a video showing the disaster to the sound of “Querência Amada”, a local anthem.
Beyoncé used her foundation’s profile to publicize food collection points. “More than 100,000 Brazilians were affected by the devastating floods in southern Brazil and need our help,” she wrote, who also reinforced her long-standing partnership with Central Única das Favelas and released Pix keys for donations.
The band Guns N’Roses’ Instagram page shared an image of the floods in the state and provided some alarming numbers about what is happening. “We are thinking of everyone in Rio Grande do Sul as historic floods hit southern Brazil.”
Ex-One Direction, British singer Louis Tomlinson will perform three shows in Brazil between Wednesday (8) and next Sunday (12). The artist states that he will collect supplies to send to the homeless in Rio Grande do Sul, Rio, São Paulo and Curitiba.
This Thursday (9) the state reached the mark of 107 people killed as a result of the rains that hit the state. The number of deaths was reported by the state Civil Defense in the morning, in the bulletin released at 9 am.
The death toll could increase in the coming days, as there are a total of 136 missing, in addition to 374 injured. There is one death under investigation to determine whether it was, in fact, related to the storms.
