Reactions have been caused by the statement of Marina Satti’s dancers. In particular, two of the dancers of the Greek participation in the Eurovision contest spoke to an Azerbaijani television station stating “Greek Turks of Western Thrace”.

This statement caused many reactions, as Greece does not recognize that there is a Turkish minority in Western Thrace and speaks of a Muslim minority in the region.

After the uproar that was caused, one of the two dancers of the Greek participation took a stand through his Instagram profile. Specifically, in his story he stated that: “I want to apologize for the misunderstanding during a short interview we gave about the wonderful collaboration we had with Marina Satti and to our great surprise we saw that the interview was distorted.

When we said that we are Greek Turks, we did not mean that we are Turkish citizens. The truth is simple. I am a Greek citizen and Houso (the other dancer) is a German citizen, we were born and raised in Germany. Obviously we also speak Turkish and we always want and wish the two countries, Greece and Turkey, to live in peace”.
