Mother’s Day: Remember celebrities who paused their careers to dedicate themselves to motherhood

by

The dilemma of dividing between career and motherhood is common among many women — and this doesn’t change when they are singers, actresses and models. Stages, studios and catwalks also require dedication, making many decide to take a break and step out of the spotlight to focus their attention exclusively on the little ones.

Maria Fernanda Cândido, Fernanda Rodrigues and Fernanda Vasconcellos were some of the representatives of Brazilian TV actresses. The “Fernandas” decided to dedicate themselves to their young children and did not participate in long projects, such as soap operas, for a long time.

Gisele Bündchen stepped away from the catwalk when she became pregnant with Vivian, her second daughter, who was born in December 2012. The model only made a triumphant return in 2016, at the Rio Olympics, when she crossed the Maracanã to the sound of “The Girl from Ipanema” .

Among international artists, Rihanna was one of those who stayed away from the stage. During her first pregnancy and the birth of her first child, RZA, the singer did not perform and focused her career on other projects. She made her first artistic appearance since becoming a mother at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, when she appeared once again pregnant with her second baby, Ryot Rose.

Adele, Beyoncé, Hilary Duff and Lauryn Hill were other celebrities who also paused their careers, as well as Fátima Bernardes, Giovanna Ewbank and Nathalia Dill, Brazilian representatives. Remember these and other names in the gallery above.
