The focus of this season is the “entanglements” in the relationship between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and his neighbor Penelope Featherington (Nicola Cochlan).
Even more sensual, the third season of the much-discussed series Bridgerton returns to Netflix. The series revolves around love affairs entered into by members of the aristocratic Bridgerton family. It is set in early 1800s London, where young aristocrats make their “debut” into society and have romantic entanglements.
Daphne (Phoebe Dinevor) found love in Reggae-Jean Page’s Duke of Hastings, before eldest son Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) fell in love with 26-year-old Kate Sharma (Simon Ashley). This season follows Francesca Bridgerton, a piano composer with an entrepreneurial approach to marriage, as she makes her debut in society. However, the real heart of these first four episodes (the final four will be released in mid-June) is the long-running romance between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and his neighbor Penelope Featherington (Nicola Cochlan).
The tension has already been building from the previous two seasons in which the two protagonists had a friendly relationship, with Penelope secretly in love with Colin. In this particular cycle, Colin returns from his travels and sees the protagonist with a different eye. However, they have obstacles in fulfilling their request, as Penelope is considered “undesirable” in society and hides behind writing the sharpest gossip column under the pseudonym “Lady Whistledown”.
The series was created by Chris Van Dusen (Scandal) and produced by Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Based on novels by Julia Quinn.
