With her new album, she is trying to stand out in the music industry, with the aim of protecting something else she has historically been passionate about: the environment
Billie Eilish she always did things her way. Whether it’s releasing her viral hit “Ocean Eyes” in 2016 either for writing and recording her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, who “smashed” records with her partner and brother, Finneas O’Connell, in her children’s room, 22-year-old Eilish has never been shy about breaking from industry norms. And that seems to be working well for the two-time Academy Award-winning artist.

With her third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft”, she remained consistent in her vision and what she had dreamed of since she was a child. The sound of the album is sure to surprise her fans, because the artist consciously decided not to release a single before the release of the album. A rather unorthodox move, but we all know the “madness” of Billie Eilish.
“I want to give you everything together”she wrote in an Instagram post last month when she announced the album’s release.
Her 2019 debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?“, with the “Happier Than Ever” of 2021 and the new album, she has written together with her brother, while the production is also by O’Connell.
It follows Eilish and O’Connell’s Oscar win in March for their original song for the film ‘Barbie’. “What Was I Made For”which was one of the biggest hits of 2023. The duo previously won the 2022 Original Song Oscar for “No Time to Die”.
Her preference for bucking the norm and the ‘shoulds’ also carries over into her plans for her upcoming ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ tour, which kicks off in Baltimore this fall. With her new album, she is trying to stand out in the music industry, with the aim of protecting something else she has historically been passionate about: the environment.

“It’s so wasteful and it pisses me off that we’re still at a point where you care so much about your numbers and you care so much about making money and it’s all your favorite artists doing this shit.”the performer had stated at some point.
To back up her complaint, Eilish posted a manifesto on her website, outlining her sustainability plan for the release of ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ after the album was announced. He wrote that only eight vinyl variants will be released, “each on the same day, which will contain the same tracklist” and “all of which will be produced using the most sustainable practices available.”

Perhaps buoyed by the two Oscars or nine Grammys she’s won, or the fact that her first two albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the young artist has a proven “track record,” doing things with her own way. And why change now, since this is working?
