The body of singer Paulinha Abelha, lead singer of the band Calcinha Preta, is veiled at the Constância Vieira gym, in Aracaju, this Thursday (24). After a ceremony restricted to family members at dawn, the wake was opened to the public at 7 am.
On Friday (25), another wake will be held, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the José Maria gymnasium, in the city of Simão Dias (SE), where the singer was born. The burial will also take place on Friday with the presence only of family members.
Paula de Menezes Nascimento Leca Viana died on the night of this Wednesday (23) at the age of 43. The singer had been hospitalized on February 11 at the Unimed Sergipe hospital, in Aracaju, with kidney problems. She was returning from a trip when she complained of abdominal pain and sought care, having been diagnosed with kidney damage. There is no information on what would have caused the problem.
On the 17th, she showed a worsening in her condition and went into a coma. On the same day, she was transferred to the Primavera hospital, also in the Sergipe capital. On Tuesday (22), neurologist Marco Aurélio Alves, who was part of the team that took care of the singer, said that her situation was delicate due to a deep coma. He cited that Paulinha was at level 3 on the Glasgow scale – which rates the patient’s consciousness levels from 3 to 15.
Paulinha became the lead singer of Calcinha Preta in 1998. She left the group twice to try solo flights, but always returned. Since 2018, she has been permanently in charge of Calcinha Preta, where Daniel Diau, Silvânia Aquino and Bell Oliver currently also sing.
