Who knew that one of the most admired women in the world was a shy child and a victim of bullying at school. So it is. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter didn’t have such an easy childhood and the one who made this revelation of one of the biggest names in world pop music was her own mother Tina Knowles.
“She was very shy and suffered from bullying, but the day she defended someone – she didn’t defend herself, she defended her friends, she saw that she was strong. She always had this protective thing, protecting everyone… Me I get emotional talking about this and I feel very proud of her. I’ve always been proud of my daughter,” the businesswoman told Vogue magazine.
In the conversation, Knowles also talked about her favorite memories of her three daughters (Beyoncé, Solange and Kelly Rowland, the singer’s childhood friend who she considers family). “Each child is different and I believe they are born with their own personalities. My three girls dealt with all their feelings and issues very differently. They were and are incredible,” she commented.
Tina also concluded by giving advice to parents: “Learn from their personalities and respect their individuality. Never compare the negatives, always praise the positive differences and pay attention to the things you can brag about.”
